Our practice is committed to the notion that the law is a service profession. We help clients solve real problems.
The focus of the practice is family law, which includes divorce, custody, domestic partnerships, child support modification, spousal support modification, custody and parenting time modification, and civil name changes.
In addition to the traditional attorney-client model, we also offer collaborative law and mediation services. Both the collaborative model and mediation give families the ability to find solutions that could never be obtained in a courtroom.
For collaborative law, this is done by working with multiple professionals, including financial analysts, child specialists, and mental health coaches, depending on the specific needs of the family. Although each party is represented by counsel, each attorney agrees to work with–not against–the other party’s attorney to come up with meaningful solutions. With multiple professionals involved, the costs are often lower than that of the traditional divorce/domestic partnership/custody model.
Mediation usually involves only one or two professionals who help the parties come to an agreement without the help of the courthouse. If the parties are represented by attorneys, they have the option to bring their attorneys with them or come without them. Either way, the parties are empowered to make their own decisions about their family moving forward without a third party making decisions for them. This too often saves families a lot of money when compared to litigation.
